WHO IS DURACOOLŽ?
We are a company incorporated
and operating in Alberta, Canada. Quality Control is our over-riding goal,
and we offer comprehensive technical and back up service. Our packaging is
state of the art, with full compliance with all regulations.
ARE DURACOOLŽ PRODUCTS
EFFICIENT?
DURACOOLŽ
products, and DURACOOL 12aŽ in particular, have been tested and
demonstrated to operate even more efficiently than CFC R-12, and
significantly more efficiently than HFC-134a. We have recorded energy savings
of up to 35%, and increased longevity to air-conditioning systems and
components. DURACOOL 22aŽ and DURACOOL 502aŽ have also been
proven to operate efficiently and effectively in R-22 and R-502 systems,
respectively (although in the US they are sold as second-generation replacements).
DURACOOLŽ products will result not only in cost savings,
but also in reduced repairs and maintenance of refrigeration and air
conditioning equipment.
ARE DURACOOLŽ PRODUCTS
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY?
DURACOOLŽ
products are not only NON-OZONE DEPLETING, but are also NON-GLOBAL
WARMING. HFC-134a is a Global Warming substance, with a Global Warming
Potential (GWP) of 1300 (or 3200, by Greenpeace calculations and
publications).
The Government first found that use of R12 greatly contributes to the
depletion of our ozone and has accordingly outlawed the use of the R12
through a phased-out plan that was greatly accelerated. Now the Government
has found that 134a greatly contributes to the high global warming potential
(GWP). As highlighted in World Climate Change debate, especially in Kyoto,
Japan in November 1997, Global Warming and Greenhouse gases pose a
significant environmental threat.
DURACOOLŽ products are made exclusively from natural, organic
material, and represent no environmental threat whatsoever.
Greenpeace International has long sung the praises of hydrocarbon technology,
and has encouraged government and industry to adopt it in favor of other
non-ozone depleting alternatives.

ARE
DURACOOLŽ PRODUCTS SAFE?
DURACOOLŽ
products are safe to use, as directed. Like all hydrocarbons, DURACOOLŽ
products are flammable, but there is an enormous difference between
"flammability" issues and "safety" issues. We all utilize
flammable products every day of our lives. Such products include gasoline,
natural gas, hair spray, barbecue lighter fluid, cigarette lighters, and
numerous household aerosol cleaners, disinfectants, and insect repellents.
Proper adherence to directions and common sense eliminate the dangers
associated with improper or negligent use of those materials.
Unlike many new alternative refrigerants, DURACOOLŽ products are
non-toxic, and environmentally friendly.
There are many Risk Assessment studies, carried out world-wide by scientists
and institutions whose credentials are above reproach, that recognize the
safety and wisdom of using hydrocarbon refrigerants. Such studies cover the
full range of uses and applications of hydrocarbon refrigerants.
Many countries, particulary in Europe, have recognized this safety, and have
embraced hydrocarbon technology, often in preference to many of the
established CFC replacements. In the last 3 to 4 years alone, over 8 million
domestic refrigerators and freezers have been manufactured in Germany and
Denmark utilizing designs based on hydrocarbon technology. Indeed, the Danish
Minister of the Environment and Energy (Mr. Svend Auken) stated in a speech
given on September 4, 1996:
"[Hydrocarbon
refrigerants]
are clean, safe and environmentally friendly."
WORLD OPINION
The experiences in Europe, and the need for governments and industry to
recognize and deal with the ever growing environmental issues that face the planet,
have galvanized many world leaders and governments to accelerate the trend to
hydrocarbon technology. The UK has adopted a new Standard (BS4344) that
recognizes the use of hydrocarbons; the Danish government has embraced its
use and development, and has declared its intention to phase out HFCs; German
technology is leading the world in applications of hydrocarbon technology in
domestic refrigeration; the Japanese goverment has sought that industry phase
out the use of GWP refrigerants such as HFC-134a; and GREENPEACE has
published numerous papers on the virtues of hydrocarbons, and the dangers of
HFCs. DURACOOLŽ products are the refrigerants of the future!
